Why static codes cannot be edited
When you generate a QR code with a simple tool, the destination is encoded directly into the black-and-white pattern. Change the URL and you change the pattern, which means a brand new code. Anything already printed keeps pointing at the old link. That is fine for a code you will never need to update, and our free link generator makes those in one click.
An editable code solves the reprint problem. The pattern encodes a fixed redirect on codesqr.com, and that redirect forwards to wherever you point it. The printed code is a stable address; the destination behind it is a setting you control. This is the same mechanism that makes a dynamic QR code work.
How editing works
Sign in, open the code in your dashboard, and change the destination field. Save, and the next scan lands on the new page in seconds. You can do this as often as you need with no limit on edits. A few situations where it earns its keep:
- A printed URL had a typo and now returns a 404.
